Trend setting collections from the HUM Bridal Couture Week ’19 (BCW19)

If a study is conducted in Pakistan, it can be statistically proven than half of the population is getting married from December to February in Pakistan, while the other half is busy attending all those weddings. What I mean to say is that its the official wedding season here, is that a thing anywhere else too?

Anyhow, its also the time when the biggest, trend setting Bridal Couture Week commences in Lahore, yes we are talking about the HUM BRIDAL COUTURE WEEK 2019 that just ended last night after three intense days of fashion frenzy.

Here we have a few designers who truly gave us inspiration for the wedding season

Fahad Hussayn:

BCW19 – Fahad Hussayn

Kicking off the BCW19 Day 1 and I couldn’t have asked for a better opening show! Fahad Hussayn well. Known for his bold and eccentric styles, came with a very muted collection featuring plain, minimally embellished peshwaz paired with very bold contrasting duppatas that we all fell in love with immediately. This gives us really an inspiration for dressing up this season with mixing and matching plain silk outfits with vintage duppatas. Truly, utterly beautiful.

Zonia Anwaar:

BCW19- Zonia Anwaar

Zonia Anwaar never ever fails to amaze us with her immaculately detailed and well crafted bridal outfits. This year she played with very traditional fabrics such as jacquard, banarsi fabric and crushed silk to give that oomph to the outfits instead of just overdo them with embroideries and embellishments. The classy minimalism of the whole collection totally took the cake.

Kausar Sajid:

The upcoming designer incorporated the gotta and block printing together and made such stunning outfits that I couldn’t believe block print can look so Freaking gorgeous on formal wear! Staying in the hues of Reds, pinks and Rust we all found some thing that we would wear to a wedding without thinking twice. Take notes ladies, pair up block printing with gotta and get those joras perfect to wear this season.

Munib Nawaz :

BCW19 – Munib Nawaz

When it comes to Men’s formal wear, the first name that pops in our minds is Munib Nawaz. His modern yet very classy take on men’s fashion is absolutely unparalleled. I was truly delighted to see him step out of his monochrome zone and actually add pop of color to the outfits without going overboard with them. The green printed waist coat is just perfect to pair up with your kurtas and add color to your plain outfits. His immaculately designed sherwanis need no praise because we already have said enough but the jacquard Saree paired with a white on white sherwani donned by Zarnish Khan just took everything to a whole new level. If I say that’s my favourite look from the whole BCW, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

Honey Waqar :

BCW19 – Honey Waqar

Honey Waqar has her way with playing with the boldest of colors from the color spectrum and I am not even complaining because she just gets it right every single time with every single outfit, like how!

From the boldest green to bright purple to deep blue to flashy Yellow, every single outfit was well crafted and embellished to make it a statement piece on its own. Though not a fan of her take on ruffles and adding them to bridal wear, but still the collection had many inspiring pieces that I would love to have.

Maria B :

BCW19 – Maria B.

I am true fan of the modern aesthetics of Maria B, be it casual summer or winter collection or a Formal outfit, you can tell from a mile because of her signature style of playing and styling with different fabrics.

The beautiful pairing of plain silk lehnga with a well worked choli has to be my favourite look of the season. If you have something similar lying around, go hunt a nice printed silk and get it stitched into a beautiful lehnga and you are all set to make a statement!

Also seen her statement schiffli borders adorning the outfit, the whole collection screamed of Maria B’s signature style of grace and class.

Nilofer Shahid:

BCW 19 – Nilofer Shahid

Trust Nilofer Shahid to bring together traditional and modern together in an outfit without overdoing it. On the ramp we saw her interplay with fabrics like printed silk, jacquard and printed Velvet! Yes you heard me, she incorporated a printed velvet suit into a bridal collection and it looked AMAZING! I mean I have never seen this combination hit the ramp before in whatever memory I have. Another great idea to get those velvets embellished and wear them to weddings like the boss ladies we all are!
